The theme for our maths week (15-1-18) was ‘Masters of Multiples’. Our phenomenal Maths week gave our pupils an enriched insight of applying their mathematical skills in a variety of context. They were challenged with mind boggling experiences of problem solving and were given an opportunity to explore multiplication and division in depth. The pupils were encouraged to explore multiplication in a variety of context. They were encouraged to make their own maths raps, games, cool tricks to remember their times table and to think of their own creative ways of solving higher order thinking problems solving activities.
To put the icing on the cake, we invited the ‘Problem Solving Company’ in to enhance pupils’ problem solving skills and give them a chance to experience maths in a real life to context to further avail the chances of thinking deeper, further and wider in maths. During our maths week, we had a ‘Maths Hatter Hat’ competition, the pupils were challenged to create a Maths Hatter Hat to celebrate the entire maths week and the results were astounding. Apart from this competition we rounded up the maths week with a sensational
Fabulous Friday Assembly
Where pupils confidently DELEGATED AND CELEBERATED THEIR CREATIVE WAYS OF EMBEDDING MULTIPLICATIONS AND OTHER AREAS OF MATHS LEARNING!
Part of our assembly was holding an ‘ISLAMIA PRIMARY MATHS QUIZ’ for pupils and teachers. The whole week was an invigorating experience for the pupils and staff. They thoroughly enjoyed it. Some of the comments shared by the pupils are as follows:
‘If only every week could be maths week’
‘I’ve become an expert in maths and times table’
‘I have a better understanding of solving problems by drawing and making sense.’
‘I think I can manage maths really well now’
