The Children's Toothbrushing Guide

5/03/2026

Dear Parents and Carers,
We are pleased to share the launch of the new Children’s Toothbrushing Guide, created to help families build strong, healthy oral hygiene habits from an early age.
Developed in collaboration with early years professionals, the British Society of Paediatric Dentistry and the Oral Health Foundation, this guide provides clear, trusted advice to support children’s oral health right from the start.
Why this matters:
Tooth decay remains the leading cause of hospital admissions for children aged 5–9, and establishing good brushing habits early can make a lasting difference.
The guide includes helpful information such as:
🦷 When and how to brush young children’s teeth
🦷 Practical tips for building brushing into daily routines
🦷 Additional ways to maintain good oral health
🦷 Inclusive guidance for families of children with SEND
It is a simple, accessible resource that you can use at home to support happy and healthy smiles.

Thank you for your continued support in helping children build healthy habits for life.
