As part of their Science topic on plants, Year 2 enjoyed a wonderful trip to Kew Gardens. The children had a fun-filled day learning about what plants need to grow and how seeds are dispersed. They explored a variety of trees and matched seeds to their parent plants, deepening their understanding of the natural world.
The children also had the opportunity to draw plants and examine leaves and flowers under microscopes, which sparked lots of curiosity and excitement. They collected different parts of plants and took part in imaginative games, including moving like plants and bees, which helped bring their learning to life.
One of the highlights of the trip was visiting the glasshouses, where the banana tree was a particular favourite.
Following the visit, the children wrote thoughtful and creative recounts of their experiences at Kew Gardens. Mashallah – we are so proud of their enthusiasm and learning!
